The Escape from LA playlist

In a few hours, I’ll be on a plane back to Toronto from Los Angeles. With any luck, I’ll be allowed to come home. Here are the songs I’m listening to.

Nine Inch Nails, “Leaving Hope.” The Consulate General of Canada, Los Angeles, is located on South Hope Street.

Hans Zimmer, “Time.” This song plays as Dominic Cobb clears customs in Inception. It’s the first time he’s seen his family in years. I always cry.

Mumford & Sons, “Home.” This should be obvious.

David Bowie, “Heroes” (Live, New York City, 2001) This is an in-joke between Dave and I.

Jeremy Warmsley, “Non, je ne regrette rien.” This song was made famous by people belting it out, but I really like Warmsley’s more delicate treatment. This is what it sounds like to be brave. It doesn’t sound epic, or sweeping, or impressive. It sounds like a little voice alone in the dark.

  1. Did you survive? How was the trip? On an unrelated note, I enjoyed VN – the book. It was what I needed when I needed. 🙂
    Cheers!
